CVS for Broxbourne and East Herts held the finals of the Senior Challenges during March 2019. CARPE Diem from The John Warner School won in Broxbourne and The MALJETS from Chauncy School were the Overall Winner in East Herts.

The Challenge, launched in Autumn 2019, raised over £7000 for 9 local charities by students from 9 schools through a wide range of enterprise activities including producing and selling handmade glass ornaments, candles and cards, movie nights, an auction and a bring-and-buy toy sale.

Local organisations giving of their time, expertise and also sponsoring the project include Barclays, Broxbourne Borough Council, East Herts Council, Fortuna Finance, Hertfordshire County Council, London Stansted Airport, Royal London Asset Management, TheGivingMachine, Veolia, VolkerWessels UK, Wood Bros (Furniture) Ltd and Wormley and Turnford Big Local for their support with the project.

QUOTE: Sarah Martin, Health and Safety Business Partner at London Stansted Airport who supported the Challenge as a Dragon Mentor, said: “I was the ‘Dragon’ for the Initiate team from The Herts & Essex High School and it was a fantastic experience to support them with their business ideas, which were awarded Most Money Raised and Most Innovative Business Idea. London Stansted encourages staff to get involved in local initiatives like this, and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with these ambitious students and support their entrepreneurship and fundraising.”
